About TATA Mosaicos
Mexican company working with the making of tiles, employing methods, materials and processes that consciously have an environmentally low impact.

Team
Carolina Cerrillo Solares - Storyboard
Patricia Mendivil Favela - Direction

From the beginning, TATA Mosaicos has been putting front and center environmental protection and conservation in its processes, materials and methods.

For Earth Day 2024 (April 22), they were seeking to transmit these efforts to their followers on social media and their website.

The result was an animation with the synthesis of the steps they use, and three short supporting videos that generate interest by communicating the look and feel and values of the brand.

Project steps:
  1. Brief, definition of objectives, reception of initial storyboard.
  2. Research, brainstorm.
  3. Watercolor color palette development matching the HEX / Pantone brand colors.
  4. Inicial concept and composition sketches.
  5. Meeting with client.
  6. Final illustrations.
  7. Animation.

Watercolor color palette

The illustrations, hand painted in watercolor, show dry brushstrokes; they were made with little water to reflect TATA Mosaicos’ care for water and their low environmental impact.
Additionally, in all of my projects that use watercolor and gouache, I extend the water’s life as much as possible, and re-use it for projects that share the same or similar color palette.

The hand painted graphic style emphasizes the artisanal aspect of the brand and resonated with their audience. The steps for the tile-making process -communicated in a warm, handmade manner- created interest far beyond the day the videos were originally shared on social media (Earth Day); they generated good social media engagement and genuine interest for the processes of TATA Mosaicos.
